Malfunction in Park / Neutral Position Switch

DESCRIPTION

The park/neutral position switch signal is sent to the skid control ECU via the CAN communication system.

When there is a malfunction in the CAN communication system, it will be detected by the diagnostic function.

When all conditions below are met:

  • Yaw rate sensor is normal.
  • G sensor lateral operation is normal.
  • Vehicle speed is 40 km/h (24.9 mph) or more.
  • Reversing signal is output from ECM for 1 second or more.
  • Park/Neutral position switch
  • Harness or connector
  • CAN communication system
  • VSC actuator (skid control ECU)
  • ECM

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:

When replacing the VSC actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: CALIBRATION (2008 Sequoia) .

CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

(a) Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output NETWORKING: CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM: DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (2008 Sequoia) .

INSPECT PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY


(a) Disconnect the D21 switch connector.

(b) Measure the resistance of the park/neutral position switch when the shift lever is moved to each position.

Standard Resistance:

(a) Disconnect the D21 switch connector.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - ECM)

(a) Disconnect the D21 switch connector.


(b) Disconnect the D56 ECM connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(a) Disconnect the D56 ECM connector.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
